For those not following portuguese Sapo new services/products, Pond is basically their social aggregator, one service to rule all those social services around us. It’s not only for portuguese people, english is also available, so give it a try, you’ll not be sorry.
You can connect your facebook, twitter, youtube, flickr and, of course, sapo own social services, like video, photos and blogs. The interesting thing is that not only aggregates content, but also friends, since you’ll see them as a whole, with different services and not multiple friends on different services. Full details here.

And do we need another friendfeed ? Well, some Sapo services always were the portuguese version (adapted of course) of some major services out there. Sapo Videos – Youtube, Sapo Blogs – Blogspot, Sapo Photos – Flickr, and so on, but not always exactly a localized copy, some services are way better than those globally, yet it’s hard for them to do better than any google service launched – it’s a scale thing. Nevertheless, Sapo is huge on the portuguese community and my guess is that it will always be! …
… So… pond is the perfect match for our local market, but that’s not enough for Sapo, they’re now open to the world and they’ll help you wherever you are. There are some restrictions, like having a specific local number to receive updates on your mobile or to invite other people, but there’s a chance to open Pond even more…
Right now they have six apps; a smartphone webapp, touchscreen webapp, Nokia WRT app, Native Android app, Native iPhone/iPod Touch app and Basic mobile webapp. There will be a desktop app for windows, mac and linux, which is still under development.

Extra: Supond’ing the pond!
The big winner of this year Codebits was a project by Nuno Morgadinho and Paulo Afonso, which I think was the rightful winner. Not only they’ve developed in two days a time machine alike for Sapo Pond service, but also it has style and looks, in other words, it doesn’t suck!
All the details are on Nuno’s post: Supond is Codebits 2009 Winner!
So, time machine interface for a social content and friend aggregator. Lifestream backup! I’m sold! For me it’s the missing link on Pond; one backup to rule all our social activities and friends, done right. “Why not backup your life as well?”, Nuno asks, and I say, hell yeah, I want it! When will it be available ?

You’ll probably not be impressed with supond screenshot, so here’s a short video demo to open every social freak appetite.
